There are specially made tampons for first time users. It really shouldn't hurt a whole lot and being a virgin has nothing to do with that anyway. It's probably the discomfort of inserting it incorrectly.

Try relaxing, laying down on your bed for a minute before you try again or something to relax. Lubricate the inserting part of the tube with some K.Y. or a something similar, just a bit to wet the applicator, not the actual tampon and try again. Be patient with yourself. Don't get tense when you're inserting!

Follow the directions on the box and make sure that the applicator slides in flush, all the way in. Once the tampon is in properly, you should not feel it, except a teeny bit. It should NOT be uncomfortable whatsoever.

Like anything new, it takes practice, a couple of times at best.

I was a virgin when I first started using tampons, and it shouldn't hurt. You're vagina is 3-4 inches in depth and after that is a stretchy wall.

Make sure you're lubricated.

Try to relax and make sure you're comfortable.

Make sure it's at a 45 degree angle when you put it in.

It could be that, but I suspect that you might be inserting it the wrong way, too fast, or maybe even using a tampon that's too hard or large for you. Which kind(s) are you using?

Oh, and sometimes they can be hard to insert if your muscles are tense....it helps if you are sitting down and as relaxed as you can be. In time, it will get easier. I think it's awkward for most girls, at first.

Tampons hurt some girls and they don't hurt others. tampons never hurt me. not even the first time.(virgin to) so try a different position when inserting it and try using a slim tampon or a light tampon. good luck.

yes it will hurt becuase you are a virgin but spread ur legs out or put one on your toliet to lift it up and open the hole.it also helps to lubricate the area for a smother entry..then gently insert slowly until it is all the in otherwise it wil be uncomfortable for you

I'm a virgin and I don't have that problem anymore. As gross as it may sound, you may just not be "lubricated" enough down there and it may be too dry. Wait a little, put it in and hopefully it should slide in alot easier, then clean yourself up

Sounds like, even though you are on your period, your vagina is dry. Put a little Vaseline on the end of the tampon and on the outside of your vagina and try again.
