So today I sit in my new home. I just got my big comfie chair delivered to my office and sat down to some well earned x box time and lo and behold this chair just has an incredible amount of static electric making all the hair on my body stand straight up. Its a somewhat disturbing sensation as Ive more hair than I will disclose. How can I get rid of this effect?

you just made me laugh out loud.I have never heard of a new chair doing that, but you may get some static guard.i am still getting tickled ,because i am visualizing the effect of this chair. If you don`t have that right away try taking your shoes and socks of before you sit down.

There's a product at various stores called Static Guard. It works well, just spray onto your clothes before using the chair. Also the dry winter weather will cause the static electricity as well. A humidifier will help add moisture to your home to protect your skin & furniture.

Get a small humidifier for that room, or think about doing it on a more large-scale if you have this problem thru the house. More than likely it's the material in that chair holding on to the excess charge and giving you this effect.

Nevertheless the extra moisture in the room will take care of this.

Wipe over the chair with a dryer sheet. It takes the static out of clothes, and it will take it out of your chair too.

you can also use static guard. This will get rid of most electric charges on fabrics, basically neutralizing the charges. Your room may also may have a low humidity.
