You understand, (right?) that you have to get your BA or BS degree, take the MCAT tests (like SATs only much harder) and then apply to medical school?
In college you can major is any subject you want -- art, psychology, biology, whatever - as long as you take the pre requisite courses for med school and do very well in them. That would be chemistry, organic chem, biochem, biol, physics, calculus....
There is a website on line for an organization that includes all the American medical schools. It lists each school, what they have for prereqs, how many kids they take, what GPA the kids entering had, what they majored in... check it out by googling.
If you want to have the best chance to get into a med school, go to a good undergraduate college -- WIlliam and Mary, Univ of VA, Univ of Richmond, Georgetown, GWashington, American, VA Tech, or if you are a really good student, try for Duke, Johns Hopkins, Vanderbilt or Emory

Virginia is not really known for good medical schools...or good colleges in General...
Here are some of the best med-schools in the nation:
Johns Hopkins
Harvard Medical School
Michigan (Ann Arbor)
Duke
University of Pennsylvania
You might be interested in Johns Hopkins because its fairly close to Virginia (depends on where you live)
Remember you can always go to a college in Virginia for undrgrad and then apply to another one for medical school
