I find that hot water makes it feel better... if only for a little while. But I read everywhere people saying to only use warm water... is there a specific reason?

Because yeast (bacteria) thrives in warm, moist places, and your vagina is one of those places. To add hot water to an already warm place makes the bacteria thrive and your yeast infection last longer.

The hot water may encourage yeast growth. Something I've found that help with yeats infections, as gross as it sounds, is using plain yogurt directly on your "area" (probiotic only)

I've found that a direct stream of very, very, very cold water causes the yeasties to get cold and jump off.
