Small dogs are notoriously hard to housebreak. Poodles don't shed and are easily trained, but can be very high strung and nervous. Shih-tzus (11 pounds) and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are wonderful companion dogs and good with children, but they will shed. You can keep them trimmed short and that helps. Cocker spaniels are the same.

You should get a maltese. They are perfect. They really are sweet dogs.

I have a shih tzu. HE IS SO CUTE AND SWEET! YOU SHOULD GET A SHIH TZU!!!
