i struggle in math. i REALLY REALLY am passionate about it. i seriously think about it EVERYDAY. im really interested in biology & health, and everything that has to do with medicine. i dont know if i can fulfill my dream if i am not that great in math. i got A's in biology & health, but math, i dont know. i know its extremely hard to become a doctor and have to go into med school & take all of those tests, but i cant see myself becoming anything else other than some kind of doctor. my parents always encourage me to do well in school. i DO, except in math, and i know math is something you gotta know if you want to be a doctor. i need help or something. i just want to know if i can become a doctor someday, even if im not the best in math. help? i havent changed my mind about becoming a doctor for about a year now.

WOW!
U sound so much like me, except i am HORRIBLE at physics.
You CAN BE A DOCTOR!
You can do ANYTHING you put your mind to. So what if your bada at math, at least your TRYING. It doesnt matter if your not good at it, your making an effort, your other grades are good. There are also tutors.
(I know it sounds wierd, but there are so many tutors for graduate students) Go to one of them, its not embarrassing, i am horrible at physics and i have a tutor, which helps so much.
Keep pushing. Obviously your passionate about becoming a doctor. Just remember, when you graduate, you have the power to save lives. That should be enough push to get you through the day, semester, year and graduation. Believe me. The thrill of being able to save a life, makes all the struggle through college worth it
Trust me

I am also trying to go to med school and I used to struggle in math as well. When I started college I just started from the bottom (college algebra) and worked my way up (calculus). You usually don't have to have more than Calculus 1 to get into med school. You could also hire a tutor if you really are having trouble with the simple stuff! Good luck ;)

nothing should get in the way of you're passion and i mean nothing, math is hard and studying to be a doctor will be too- but once you do you will feel so acomplished and you will have no regrets- just study more in math and if you need to i would get a tutor so you can have an intense study session- one on one- i doesnt sound too fun- but you will feel terrible if you give up your dream just because you (used to) struggle at math
*best of luck :)

Get a tutor. It will help you to be better in math. Even if you're not the greatest at math i'm sure you'll do fine if you do good in sciences. Good Luck.

Being good at math and science is really important if you want to become a doctor... I would take some summer classes and do extra math-related work to improve your math. Math is just logic, once you practice enough it will become easy.

I wonder if you have a good idea about what doctors actually do? They talk to patients, yes, but what they mainly do is make really difficult decisions about how to manage disease. In order to make the decisisons they have to read pages and pages of medical test results, nearly all of which are reported as percents, or in various odd ball measurements (micrograms per deciliter, cfu/cc, etc). If you are really bad at math, how in the world are you going to do that?
What exactly do think being a doctor consists of? Probably your view matches some other career that is not actually that of a physician. You need to really check it out and see exactly what it is that a doctor needs to know and needs to be able to analyze. You can't spend your life doing something that you are really bad at, and where every time you make a mistake someone can die!

Here is the problem. You do not need much math to work as a doctor. BUT, you do need to do well in it to qualify for good college and medical school.
Try to get a tutor.

With your passion and determination - YOU CAN BECOME A DOCTOR.
Your weakness in Math is not a problem - that can be overcome with your determination. Dont think you are weak in Math or anything. The more you think you are weak - you will really become weak at it. so stop thinking negative.
ANd since you got good at subject related to being a DR, excell at it all the more.
Good Luck!!

Pursue your dream to become a doctor.
Doctors only use very elementary mathematics. Like 1+9=10 and 10/10=1.

Consult with your high school advisor. Better yet, consult with a college advisor in a particular school you want to go to. That's the easiest way to find a solution to that little math dilemma.
