And why do you always give other Black people a hard time when they want to make something out of themselves, like going to college and getting into medical school? I am a Black woman myself (I am not African American, however) and everytime I see ghetto Blacks I get so mad. It's to the point where I just ignore them if they even try to speak to me. AND LEARN TO SPEAK ENGLISH! ENOUGH WITH THE STUPID GHETTO TALK!

A few of you answered with the word "jealousy", but since everyone is capable of harnessing this emotion, why don't white people hate on each other? Or Hispanics? or Asians? They all seem to root for one another and unite, but not African Americans. That's why Blacks from the Caribbean or from Africa don't get along with Black Americans.

I have to admit that jealousy within the black community is far more common then within other ethnicities, they just find it difficult to be happy for each other, which is made clear by the high rate of black on black crime.
However it does seem to me as though you are demeaning and labeling these people before you've even met them. i have friends that talk in a 'ghetto' whatever that means but their still very nice people.
Remember just beacuse you dress and talk in a certain way it does n't make you a bad person.
Also get yourself some manners be polite to people and show them the same curtosy you wish others to show you.
its bad enough that white people think so little of us is it neccessary for black people to feel the same!
And by the way if you actually knew thse people you would find that ghetto talk is an adolescent phase which they usually grow out of!

It is always warming to hear when a Black person has the ambition to make something out of themselves and becoming an integral part of our society. However, instead of condemning the ghetto mentality, let your life shine as an example to inspire other blacks to reach for something greater than what they are. It is vital that those of us who have come from undesirable backgrounds and have made of accomplishments in our lives be mentors to this ideology to try to bring about changes in these attitudes. It will take generations to accomplish this but the time to shine your light on others is now.

I think its to do with a lack of education....I think educated blacks are not prone to harass others doing something positive for themselves. They probably see it as an asset their race and would want to be supportive. There is a social economic barrier for people in the ghetto, sometimes thinking out of the box is hard when all you know is that box.

You make it sound like jealousy is particular to Black people. Surely, that is a myth.

Secondly, quit hanging around ghetto people. That may be why you are angry. Anybody would be.

So your whole diatribe is based on hearsay??

Jealousy pure and simple!

Black on Black hate is worse than White on Black hate or Black on White hate, it's mind boggling!

Jealousy does exist within other races as well. Misery loves company is real. Live with it.
