I've got three, from different genres.

Forrest Gump - You follow the story of a mentally handicapped person as he lives through milestone events in modernish American history.

Braveheart - The story of William Wallace leading the Scottish revolution against the British.

Cruel Intentions - An unintentionally hilarious movie about promiscuous teens seducing people.

One of my all time favorites is Rocky Horror. But if you've never seen it then I wouldn't recommend it just yet. You have to sort of prepare yourself before watching it. So how about watching Hairspray or Cry Baby as warmups. Cry Baby stars Johnny Depp as a 50's rebel. It's a musical about two gangs that fight over a girl.
Hairspray is a movie about a local dance show and it's set in the 60's, starring Ricki Lake. They're both equally weird and made by the always awesome John Waters.

"Arlington Road"

You will be absolutely shocked by the ending of this film. My mouth dropped at the end of the last scene. Let's just say, without giving the ending away, that its not a typical hollywood ending.

Widowed when his FBI agent wife is killed in an FBI anti-terrorist operation gone wrong, a college professor (Bridges) becomes increasingly obsessed with the culture and sub-society of these dangerous groups. The arrival of new neighbors (Robbins, Cusack), gives him new spirit, as they are gregarious and friendly, with two children (Gamble, Green) that his son (Clark) can be friends with. He is even beginning to see another woman (Davis). However, he begins to suspect something is odd about the neighbors, something about the way they don't want him to see certain parts of the house, or a set of blueprints they have there. Are his neighbors terrorists... or is the stress of losing his wife merely driving him past the point of paranoia?

My favorite movie is Ever After with Drew Barrymore. It is a story about a Cinderella like story in the renaissance days. It makes me laugh and cry!

The Princess Bride...who doesn't love quirky-comedic lines, sword fighting, romance and crazy character names like Prince Humperdink.
