Gay civil unions have just been legalized in New Jersey. I live in Pennsylvania. Say My boyfriend and I were to drive to Jesey for a civil union and come back to Pa would we still be recognized... ex. when filling out benifit papers and such. Would we be able to take advantage of such things or is it ONLY legal in the states that pass such laws.

Does that make sence... if not I'll explain it in more detail.

thank you!

Well, I guess my answer to you mr, a man is to marry a women and vis versa. How about you learn what a civil union is before you open your ignorant mouth?

Marriage is a religious term in which I WILL NEVER GET MARRIED.
So goto your local library, rent a book and read up on what a civil union is.

LEARN BEFORE YOU PREACH MY FRIEND!

If gay unions aren't recognized in your state, you're out of luck for now.

Not sure on that one, I think DOMA prevents recognition of out-of-state unions, but I'm not 100% certain.

Iraqisax? How can you possibly compare gay marriage to someone marrying their parakeet? Both I and reality fail to see the connection here.

If you want to take advantage of the benefits of marriage, then get married. If you are a man, that means you have to marry a woman!

You can't marry another man, and you can't marry your parakeet. A man can only marry a woman. I don't know what a civil union is. Considering the caliber of people in our legislatures, anything is possible.
