During Bob Dylan's astonishing career, he has covered Folk music, Rock and Roll, and Country music. In today's music industry Classic artist's from year's gone by are making a comeback with new material and have been very successful. With Dylan's versatility, coming out with a Heavy Metal album would be quite feasible and sure to get a lot of attention. Is there a chance he would do this? I've heard rumor's he will, and how successful could it be.

certain--i'd might want to assert so. One man or woman reported McCartney/Lennon, yet those 2 blended did not write even 0.5 as many songs as Dylan. And Dylan (genuine call: Robert Zimmerman) has withstood the try of time. in case you hearken to his stuff from the 60's now it nevertheless stands up and doesn't sound dated. He has written on alot extra severe matters than all of us else too: warfare, politics, civil rights, racism, injustice, and obviously love and love lost. Plus, look how a lot of his songs were coated via different artists! and what's fantastic about the guy is, in spite of everything those years (40?) contained in the spotlight, and thousands of interviews, he has remained a secret. in the previous this year I stated the 4 area PBS particular on him via Martin Scorcese and that i nevertheless do no longer understand what makes the guy tick. i love how he has continually messed with the clicking and infrequently provides immediately solutions. one element although: I reckon no man or woman would say he's the stunning SINGER of all time! LOL

It's possible, there are many types of heavy metal and some if not most of them arent technically difficult to play and aren't much different from rock, heavier distortion, perhaps some faster more agressive picking.

His success would probably be more dependant on the novelty factor of him doing this rather than on how "good" it auctually is, but then again a lot of bands are successful through novelty and not technical proficiency.

Hmm.
I have a huge respect for Bob Dylan. So even though I think that sounds suicidal, I think he knows what he's doing.
He's Bob Dylan.
Everything he's ever done was hated at first, but then everyone realized what a genius he is and they accepted it.
Not sure if it will be very successful, but I'd listen to it.

Dylan played London Calling in 2005 or early 2006 then they played a Link Wray track, of course, he could play metal. his recent versions of the Wicked Messenger are pretty metalish, so is Cold Irons Bound from Masked and Anonymous. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDaPjYPyyGU

In 2004 he played with Jack White. They played Ball and a Biscuit, the mp3 of that is not too hard to find.

You left out gospel (Slow Train Coming.)

Dylan could play Heavy Metal, but he won't.

Some of the live stuff with The Band got pretty close, though - think "Isis."

Since Dylan only plays accoustic guitar (and pretty much just strums it), I find it hard to believe he could pull off heavy metal.
Besides, he sings much too slow for heavy metal. Somone would have to set his hair on fire to get him to pick up the pace.
Don't get me wrong, I think the guys a great poet.
I just don't believe he ever should have sang the stuff himself. It always sounded like he was whining.
But that's just my opinion.

Metal songs aren't known for their lyrics, so no, he won't do one, it would be like asking Clapton to play bongos.
