Look for a product called Herpilyn. It is highly recommended by naturopaths.

Hypercin or Lysine, Neosporin, Collodial Silver, Tea Tree, Echinacea just to name a few, Not quite sure but baking soda paste may help take some of the redness out and balance ph in the skin. Some people use toothpaste on a zit, I don't know if it will work on a cold sore, but .....

I've found that taking L-Lysine helps get rid of them faster. I like to use Zilactin-L (liquid). It's a little messy and it stings, but it seems like it dries it up the fastest. It's pretty cheap and so is L-Lysine. While I was at boot camp I got a cold sore. Since we weren't allowed to bring our own meds, and I didn't want to go to medical, (this is going to sound ridiculous) I had to use the hand sanitizer they had in the restrooms. (Purell). It worked, but I would definitely prefer to use the supplements and regular cold sore meds.

I would have cold sore onece a while, too bad, there is nothing really works if you don't get some medicated balm, go get the medicine and some work really well, you'll see the result the next day. From my experience, the more expensive one the faster result you'll get.
