I posted this question to point out the exact reason why most Americans are hated around the world. Thanks for proving my theory correct. More that half of you have responded, "Who cares," and the question has only been up for 7 minutes. Now my best friend owes me a 12 pack. Haha thanks loosers.

I see a lot of "Clinton did it" responses. Which seems to be the knee jerk reaction everytime someone brings up Bush failures. Pure internets LOL! Lay off the right wing koolaid ok guys!

I imagine it will all depend on who the next president is. But for now, the U.S. is sadly lacking regarding respect from other countries. I would suggest that this "lack of respect" will linger on for the next 22 months.....

If we get a democrat president, yes. The democrats will set up a weak foreign policy which European countries will praise us for. If a republican president gets in office, most likely they will keep hating us because the republicans have a better chance of defeating terrorists than the dems. The reason many countries despise us is because of our tough stand on foreign policy. Many European countries are in denial of an Islamic threat to the west. You can see that now they are paying a price. In France in the year 2006 21,000 cars were burned in 11 months by angry Muslims. France won't do anything about it because they are cowards. Many European countries are like this and it troubles me. Any country with a foreign policy that looks that it was made by hippies are going to fall in this day and age. In a war like this you cannot be politically correct, you will fail. People are always wondering why Israel has survived all these constant attacks by muslims. It is simple: They had a tough foreign policy and they took no crap from muslims. I'm tired of people giving others on Y/A thumbs down because their answers are not politically correct. In a time of war you fight for your families survival, no matter how bad it gets. So if your offended by this i am not sorry because I want to protect my country from Islam.

I'm sorry to say this embarrasment is Clinton's fault. We wouldn't have a war if Clinton just had took his chance to take out Osama. Sure, he didn't know he was a big threat, but you let a potential threat going walking. Bush just got caught up in Clinton's mistake. Although everyone just blames Bush anyway. Yeah, so we will never probably be totally respected. I think the world likes to be able to hold a grudge against America seeing how they are jealous of America as being seen as the greatest country in the world.

There are countries that respect us, then those that do not, for what reason, I have no idea (except for Clinton). Maybe they are tired of the US throwing the balance off (Germany, WWI and WWII), making others look bad militarily (France, same wars), maybe for some other stupid reason. By the way, I do not mean to offend any Germans or French on here, just meant as a little laugh, that's all.

I believe they will. Unfortunately Emperor George will not give up easily. Expect martial law and a suspended election until the war is over. That should be about 30 or 40 years and Constitution, that is just a GD piece of paper according to the emperor so we'll suspend that. Since he will be emperor the Congress can adjourn for ever. If that scenario happens they will never respect us as they will last only a few years before the nukes fly and we're all dead anyway.
Now I have had my daily rant and I feel much better, thank you.

US is the hegemon of 21st century. It has only spread hatred throughout the world, and is continuing to do that.
US is the only country to use nukes.
US has fought the most wars, all of the countries.
US has been non-stop fighting wars officially and un-officially since first first world war.
US is the cause of Afghanistan and Iraq.
Osama Bin Laden and many, who formed Al Qaida were trained in US against Soviet Union.
Saddam Hussain was supplied Chemical Weapons by US.
It is hard to understand, that this is beyond Bush and many presidents.

Why should other countries respect this country when it's own citizens don't even respect it or demand respect for it. I find it implorable that not only allow it but go along with it. The crazy part is when President Bush gets out all of a sudden everyone will want to be patriotic and it will be to late.

If they don't respect us now, sounds like their problem. If someones country is based soley on their Pres/Queen/Dictator then why are we in Iraq? Why would we care what happened to those people if we based our judgment on them just because of their leaders. I feel that our country is above all simply because we are more compassionate, more liberal, more patriotic, and definitely more free, than anywhere else. Don't respect my country because of our President......at least we got to vote, and at least he's not in for the 30 years. Democracy is what's it's all about. Who cares what they think!

If the Dutch and French gave up on us in 1775 as we did in Viet Nam and starting to in Iraq, we will not have any respect in the world just like the UN all talk and no action.

Other countries do things in their own best interest. When they see weakness, ineffectiveness and indecisiveness, they will move in for an advantage, regardless of who is President at the time. The only time they will respect the USA is if there is a reason to respect the USA.
If Kucinich or Clinton or Obama or Guiliani or McCain becomes president, I seriously doubt they will respect us.
