as i am training to be an electrician, i am stuck in a catch 22 situation, there is alot of work but for experienced and qualified people ONLY . Nobody is willing to train me or even give me the opportunity to learn.i have spent alot of time and money on training but still no luck. I have the usual debts etc to pay off and lots of things i wish to do. The opportunities in this country are drying up for the locals and others have a better chance now. i have been unemployed a long time now. i wish to work hard and earn a living, what can i do? alot of agencies register me but have no work. why do agencies register people if they dont have any jobs?and why do employers advertise jobs if they dont have any vacancies? why do people not reply to letters i am sending out to?What the hell is this country comming to if government statistics show that over 45% of households are now living on government handouts? Whose laughing all the way to the bank?

Sounds like you live in an area where there are more people with your skills than available work. Thereby companies can require a ton of experience and pay low.

You should check out getting onboard with the IBEW. They have a great apprenticeship program, and the best run union in the country, IMHO. You should also consider broadening your search to another city or two.

I think that Job seekers do get some rough treatment, but I am also aware that it is not only the employer who is to blame. More often than not, it is the also the jobseeker who is at fault.

For this reason, I am writing this website, http://www.gjobadvice.co.uk to provide guidance, advice and support to all sorts of people with their jobhunting.

Why not take a look and see if it helps you knock them out.

Desperate people go to a job that they can get. Just keep looking and think outside of the box. Good luck with that.
