I agree. I want my loved ones to remember me how I was, not as a made-up, posed corpse. I want to be cremated.

It depends on the wishes, beliefs, customs, rituals, etc. of the individual and their family and friends. My mother was Christian, and believed in the entire funeral process, and being buried with her Bible. I respected her wishes.
As for me, don't leave me out too long, like James Brown and Anna Nicole. I appreciate the customs of Muslims and Jews, burial by the next day. I opt for cremation, have a memorial using my best photo, eat, dance, and remember me.

Some familes need this ritual and display as it's their custom and funerals are for the living not the dead and it provides closure and comfort to the survivors. There isn't any right or wrong way to dispose of dead people. It's up to the family about these matters and all ways should be respected.
