hi everyone, just wondered what you mums experienced just before labour, if anything (before waters breaking or contractions i mean)

im 39 weeks and have found over the past week that my baby has been moving much more then usual, really strong movements too, can make it hard for me to breath!

i'd be greatful to hear your experience just before labour, if you had any signs other then the obvious (contractions etc) and when these signs started (how many days/hours before the actual labour i mean)

thanks in advance for your answers

I was 39 weeks when I had my son...it was weird, I just sorta knew it was happening. I lost my mucous plug, I was very antsy, and was having small contractions for the longest time. It started happening about two days before actual labor; the midwife stripped my membranes. I dilated to 4 cm before I actually went into labour. The contractions (which feel like really hard cramps, or a charlie horse in your lower abdomen) come faster and get more intense. Don't worry, you'll know! You'll be okay.

I had no warnings before labour...just woke up with a backache that kept coming and going- took 5 hours for me to realise these were contractions!

But water breaking...that didn't happen on it's own, they had to break my waters in hospital!

The few days before labor my pelvis hurt really badly to walk around. I lost my mucus plug on a tuesday, went into labor on a thursday morning, and had a baby by thursday night.

That morning, my husband asked if I felt like I was going to go into labor... I was pretty depressed that he was 4 days late & felt like it was just the usual day.

30 minutes later, I went into labor... So, you never know!

i don't think my babies moved more the closer i got to labor, but i've heard old stories about women becoming 'smart' just before labor. 'smart' meaning they began cleaning like crazy, or cooking like they got a sudden burst of energy.
