if you plan on installing a concrete driveway anyway, go for the heat. some insulation , tubing , a hot water tank, and some plumbing fixtures. i heat my garage floor and i dont think my gas bill is more than 100.00 more a month. less than with an overhead gas heater.

It would be effective if you turn your hot water heater on before it snows so the snow would melt as it hits the driveway. Be prepared to have some ice build up at the bottom of your driveway where the snow melts and freezes at the bottom.

Sounds like a VERY expensive idea. The instalation, the cost to run. It would more cost effective to hire someone to clear your driveway when it snows. How often does it snow?

Effective yes. The cost effectiveness really depends on what is worth to you.

I worked at a company that had heating under a long sloped concrete walkway. It worked fine.

It would cost a lot of money to get it installed, than the electricity to run it would run for a lot. Fixing it would be next to impossible. It would have to be water proof, adding more expense, and than I don't think it would be very effective for a larger storm.
