I just watched this video by The Octopus Project and about a minute and 30 seconds in to the video the girl starts playing this instrument that seems to attach to her synthesizer. It appears to be a long metal bar that creates an electronic reverberating noise. Watch the video and tell me what it is!

I emailed the band. The instrument is called a Theremin.

If you look at the picture, her Casio keyboard/synthesizer actually sits on top of it and it actually has nothing to do with the sound of the Theremin, its a completely seperate instrument.

that wasn't an instrument that was just a prop she put on there to look like she was controlling the hamster or something. but the sound she was making was coming from here synthesizer.

I dont think that is the keyboard making the sound, it just looks that way, it sounds like a tremolo effect on a guitar.

its a thermomin! the hardest, most difficult instrument to master. its well-known in the song "Good Vibrations", the 'ooo-wooo-ooo oo o" sound

It's called a theremin or thereminvox.
It's a pretty cool instrument. :-)
