This only applies to cars that can be unlocked by remote button. Should you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are home.

If some one has access to the spare remote have them telephone you on your cell phone.

Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the other person on the phone press the unlock button aiming it at the phone while you point your phone at the car

Your car will unlock. I tried it and it works. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object.

Sorry but that is completely untrue and I hate to call you a liar... but you are. Cell phones and car remotes use two completely different wavelengths and while it sounds like a cool trick, its completely false.

To the person who mentioned the tennis ball method: Sorry to burst your bubble but that too is for the most part untrue. Certain makes of vehicles in the early 80's had locking mechanisms that were pressure tight. This resulted in certain devices that used a quick blast of air to cause the locking mechanism to trigger, thus unlocking the vehicle. If you were to do the tennis ball trick on a car built in the 80s, you might have a slight chance of it working, but using it on a modern day car would have absolutely no effect at all.

Sorry, but thats hogwash. The signals are sent via RF, and cannot be transmitted over a cell phone.

I have personally tried the tennis ball trick on a 1990 vw.I learned this little trick while in the Army, stationed in Germany. we did the hole a little smaller than a quarter though, maybe a nickel. it worked!! it really did. i cant see how a cel could work, but you never know. i would have to agree with TP its pretty obvious the guy accusing everyone of being a liar just writes what he reads.
he is out of touch with reality.

I would like to know how you locked your keys in the car, when you have to have the keys in your hand to press the "lock" button? did you press and crawl out the window? why?

I"m going to try that. I'm betting high cash that it doesn't work on my car.

How far away from home were you when you tried this?
