To believe in both evolution and God is not BS.
Like it or not, there is no rule, written in stone, that says one can't believe in God and evolution at the same time.
It would be equally unreasonable to believe that all creationists are christians. Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, American Indians, and other peoples and religions have their own creationist stories.
Evolutionists have evidence.
Creationists have stories that were handed down to them that may or may not be literally true, but have no evidence whatsoever.
There is nothing wrong with believing that God is smart and powerful enough to create the laws of physics and nature so that evolution of humans would happen without any further interference.
If God did this, for the purpose of creating the first humans, then He did indeed create us.
This isn't a BS answer. It's common sense, logic, and faith.
The only BS here is your restrictions on what you want to hear.
Now, hurry up and pick a vague, useless YEC answer before the rest of us can vote for the one that really is the best.
Hurry, hurry!

> To all evolutionists...?
Is "evolutionists" a word?
> Why is the idea of God so unrealistic to you?
God is non-obvious. Faith is required. You should read the book Contact by Carl Sagan. He gives a fairly good summary of why faith is required -- mostly centering around the fact that if God had wanted to be obvious, He could have done so in many different ways.
> wont we all evolve into Gods someday
Nope. Individuals don't evolve. I'll be a human being all my life. So will you.

I can't even imagine how you believe that we'll all evolve into Gods. Science can trace evolution back, but the future is anyone's guess. Anyone who tells you what's in the future knows about as much as a chipmunk does.
Okay, why is the idea of God unrealistic ? Because it's supernatural. I believe only in the natural, otherwise it's just plain superstition.

As a Spinozian pan-theist I do not have to BS you. So, why are you BSing me? How could you possible have come to the conclusion that we will all evolve into gods someday. Evolution has no direction and it is not progressive. If you believe in a personal god; do so. Just stop attacking science, especially evolutionary science.
PS I prefer to be called a Darwinian.

I've read lots of material about evolution written by actual biologists, and I haven't come across too many references to gods of any kind. To be frank, I don't think the theory of evolution as proposed by them has anything to do with your god.
Of course, if you believe that your god has to do with everything, then you are going to percieve it as an attack. An attempt to re-write your theology by scientists. But then, almost any kind of attempt to explain anything other than your way could arguably be doing the same thing.
Allow me to assure you that I personally know no scientists who have any interest in modifying your religious ideas in any way. Your gods are perfectly safe from us in just about every sense. The only kind of god a human could threaten would have to be a pretty weak one indeed!
The gods I believe in happen to have no problem with evolution. But then I doubt that you and I believe in the same gods. I suppose time will tell which of us are right.
So I'll make you a deal. You pray for us, and we'll keep making nifty stuff for you. On the other hand, if you kill all the biologists, either physically or socially, you can kiss half your medicines and food goodbye. You need us... we don't need you. Peace.

ITS not A BS answer to state a person can believe in god and evolution. My concept of god is not thousands of years out of date. In my reality, God is complex enough to exist side by side with evolutionary theory. Evolution does not contradict god, Its simply an examination of how we came into existance; not why.

I've never seen any evidence to suggest that any form of god exists.
The Christian idea of god is, to me, no more convincing than the ancient ideas of gods. Do you believe the River Nile comes from a god? That most ancient Pharaohs were gods? Probably not.
Why should anyone believe in something with absolutely no evidence, when there is so much evidence to back up evolution?

It sounds like YOU believe in evolution and god, since you're saying it's possible that we could evolve into gods someday.
The idea of gods began with simple people with no idea of science or natural facts of the world in which we live. Gods were plural long before the idea of a single god came into being. The Israelites were probably not even the first to come up with the idea, but either way it doesn't matter. People who felt tormented or needed explanations always needed someone or something to either blame or look up to for relief.

Why is the idea of God realistic to you? What evidence do you have that God exisits? When you use the term "God", what exactly do you mean? Do you also believe in Santa Claus? Recommended reading: Richard Dawkins' "The God Delusion".
