A lot will depend on if manager Mike Hargrove and GM Bill Bavasi are still around at that point. I think Ichiro wants to play for a winner before retiring, and this next contract might be his last. I just don't see M's management moving him, even if they are well out of the playoff race. They should because losing a player like Ichiro for nothing isn't the smartest move.
Any team struggling offensively could use him, but only the big names (Yankees, Red Sox, Mets, Dodgers) could afford to pick up his salary and move prospects.

The only reason the Mariners would trade Ichiro is if he started openly complaining about where he's playing. Even Seattle's not stupid enough to trade not only its best player, but its only player that actually puts fans in the seats.

They would almost have to trade Ichiro as opposed to letting him walk and getting nothing in return. People mention the Yankees and RedSox, but both of those teams seem to have their OFs full at the moment (granted that never stopped the Yankees before). I wonder about either Los Angeles team or possibly the WhiteSox.

No, they won't trade him, he's the best player on the team. The Mariners would be lost without Ichiro

I don't think that the Mariners can afford to trade Ichiro. that would just kill them because he is so good. And just about every team would be interested in getting him because he has so many tools that most teams are in need of.

They should. Ichiro is the ONLY reason fans still come to watch. Trade him to a decent team, maybe the Jays or White Sox, or possibly the Yanks. Who knows...

It's a "contract year" so he will have a career year.... Do ever better then he ever has and yes, if Seattle is smart and are out of it they will trade him and get a lot in return!
The jankees always come up in rumors.... Boston maybe?!
