i would read something about palestine/isreali conflict. i have read a fiction book on that subject but i would like to know more from like a perspective of a person who has been there. bc more historical (even fiction) is based on credible sources. so i wanna know what life is like there for the common population.

good question

I love books that tell about places I'll never go and cultures I'll never experience (I will go to some, but all is impossible). I also like historical fiction for the same reason. We can never revisit the distant past, but the culture and landscape is different from our own.

Read the "Kite Runner". Excellent book and brings a better understanding of what life might be like in the middle east. Another good one is "The Namesake" which follows the story of a woman from India coming to America and trying to make this place her home.

I really wanna read a Japanese book called "The Book of Tea", it's all about the Japanese art of tea ceremony and it sounds really interesting. I love Japanese culture.
