I was a 13 year old freshman in high school. I was sitting in Citizenship class just after noon waiting for the teacher to come in to start the class. This teacher was never late starting a class. When she arrived she was crying and announced that President Kennedy had been asasinated in Dallas. The intercom system played the radio reports for the rest of the class day. President Kennedy was the first President I had any awareness of.

I was in high school social studies class. I will never forget it. There was a knock on the classroom door, people from the office rarely knocked, and the teacher stepped out. When he returned he had a very strange and sad look on his face. He went to the head of the class and calmly made the announcement that President Kennedy had been shot and killed. Shortly thereafter we were dismissed and walked home from school. Very very sad day.

I was flying on an airplane flying back home from a business trip. The pilot made the announcement and not a person moved for quite awhile. It was very painful. I cried and I didn't even like Kennedy that much.

There was an episode of SNL with a sketch about this. Jim Belushi didn't know Kennedy had been shot. It was pretty funny.

I don't remember what I was doing when I heard. I was born in 1970, so by the time I knew what was going on, it was old news.

I was in the living room when I heard Elvis died. I ran into the bathroom to tell my mother. She was taking a shower.

I was in the back seat of my father's 1972 Ford Galaxie 500 when I heard about John Wayne. We were about to leave Biloxi to go to Maryland to vist my grandmother. We were passing in front of an upholstery shop.

I was 2 months short of 23 years old, had been home from the hospital 7 days with my new baby son (my second child). I was sitting on the sofa in the living room watching "As The World Turns" and folding diapers....

How vivid that memory is.
