I don't understand which tense you are in: past, present, or both. If you are referring to the enslavement of Africans in the Americas, or even just in the US, then some people wanted slavery and some didn't. Owners of slaves presumably wanted slavery as they owned slaves and profited from them. Slaves, on the other hand, most likely did not want slavery, evidenced by the numerous rebellions and escapes. Every one else was therefore mixed, leading in no small part to the Civil War.

I don't think that anyone actually wanted slavery in their life, which is the reason slaves were running away and escaping with Harriet Tubman.
I think the slaves who chose to stay were conditioned to that way of life and just kind of accepted that this is how life is. "We are who we are, and they as them." - which is pretty common thinking when you have decades of separation.
I think it's a difficult question to answer really when race that was a slave in history, this generation does not have any idea of what that was like.
I know that slavery destroyed the common sense of a lot of people and has pushed back certain cultures decades in some neighborhoods even centuries. People across many racial borders have accepted that lighter skin is better than darker skin and that's even in Hispanic and Italian cultures.
That type of separation and abuse is shown today as a result of many poor communities. It's not a coincidence that "ghettos" have darker skinned people living there (black people).
So.. no we did not want slavery in our lives.. look at what it has done to us in present day America.

Your question is confusing. If you mean did white slave owners want slavery then yes, they did. They viewed it as a low cost source of labour for plantations.
If you mean the blacks who were enslaved then no, they did not but once people found themselves enslaved then they had few options and many chose to adapt to their condition in life.
Relations between blacks and whites before Emancipation were complex as they were closely involved with each other and knew each other as human beings. The institution of slavery was maintained by law and was not thought of as inhumane until the 19th century when many people began to agitate against it and several countries outlawed it. The British outlawed slavery before the Americans and would stop ships on the high sea to stop the slave trade.

I dont know about slavery but I want 3-5 wives at home to handle the "load"
In a way its domestic slavery but the majority of US society is a basic capitalistic indentured servitude setup anyway.
Are some married couples acually slaves? How about someone working for a large unfeeling company? Where is the line? a perception of ownership? having power over another?
Freedom is an illusion created to pacify the unwashed masses.
Damn the man

Yes, Because if you look back in time. Every race of people has been in slaved by some other race. It's in our nature . If you say well I don't stand up and fight it. People still turn there head. Greed must go 1st . Our other faults as being's will fall by the way after that.

I think there were many people who knew it was wrong and many people who were in denial. Kind of like the war in Iraq.
