Lack of sexual excitement. Looking sleepy all the time. Slow rate of speech. Feeling itchy (!) everywhere all over the body (he will want to scratch his skin from time to time). Significant weight-loss. Excessive sweating, trembling, and throwing up if denied the access to heroin.
Marks on the arms is a very big sign. Also, there can be marks on the legs and feet.
If he's really using, I hope he gets help and recovers. Heroin is very damaging to body tissues, especially heart.

Heroin: narrow pupils, almost closed eyelids, a faraway look, passive, quiet, slow breath....are just a few signs. Here are a couple websites that have a lot of info. The second one is really detailed about symptoms as well as other info....like repercussions and effects. Why do you think he is using heroine? If you have worries about it and evidence to suggest he is using drugs, especially needles, make sure you are protecting yourself from contracting HIV and HepC, among other things. I once found out an ex boyfriend was using heroine while I was with him. There was a rumour that he had AIDS. It was just a false rumour but I went out and got tested anyways. I was one of the lucky ones, it was negative. Good luck to you and hopefully you are worrying for nothing....

I hope your relationship is such that you can ask him. Even if he denies use, all the answers to your question are very helpful and give you a lot of information to go on. Use the info and your intuition.
Listen to your gut. Disengage from him if he is using. Run for the exit. He will need much professional help and luck. Use your head.

Just ask it! Yeah, I think that you should ask your b/f, his mother, brother, cousin & total strangers ( this is the perfect place ) ... First & fore most a DOCTOR. He & you are on the highway to Hell & haven't even a clue. Check him in to rehab after you both tell your loved ones. I'm sure if they knew how much danger your both in, they will continue to love & support you both. Good luck, hon. Time to get off the highway at the next rest spot. Marie

When he does not have the drug he talks out of his head and his nose runs all the time.He is active in intervals.then falls alsleep in the middle of a conversation.Get him some help.he will eventually die from this drug,it takes you down fast.Best of luck.
Really get yourself some help ,if you can't help him. It's a catch 22.He is already gone if he's on the big H.

Heroin will only stay in your system for 24 hours. If he is getting high he will be relaxed, almost sleepy. If he's looking for another fix, his nose may get stuffy, he might vomit (if he can't get another hit before he starts to withdraw), he will get more and more irritable, cranky and generally short with you, he will withdraw from you, and he may get sweaty for no apparent reason.
Hope this helps.
P.S. My little brother is a recovering heroin addict, so I have seen this first hand.

he will fall asleep after days of pukin and bob his head to stay awake. he's not physically or mentally the same guy. make some normal, casual remarks about heroin and see if he perks up or gets defensive about an opinion......
have you asked? it's hard to lie and be convincing
