The more places you post your resume the better. On craigslist since it's viewable by public, most people only list their name and CraigsList will forward the emails. I've done this, gotten a couple of interviews, but no job offers.
Don't forget about Career Builder, Monster, Wall Street Journal online, the local ATL paper will probably have an online posting as well. All of these types of sites, only employers who have paid a fairly large fee will be able to access your stuff, so you can put all of your contact information.
There is also LinkedIn.com, which is a great networking tool. Depending on the industry you are in consider asking contacts in linked in to forward your resume to anyone and everyone they know in Atlanta.

I can't attest to the posting of a resume on Craig's List, but I did get a job after applying from a posting on Craig's List (and it was a job I stayed at for four years), and this was back in early '98, before most people outside the Bay Area even knew what Craig's List was.
As far as being safe, I would think so. Maybe don't put things like your address or phone number on your resume, instead just using an email address as your contact info. And, to cover your bases, I'd post a resume on CL, Monster.com, Yahoo's HotJobs, CareerBuilder.com and whatever other sites you think might work, either in your specific industry or Atlanta-specific sites.
Hope that helps.

I don't think Craigslist is the best way of finding a job because it is so competetive. Once you post your resume on Craigslist, then a prospective employer will see it. Not only that employer will see it, but he/she might want to notice others as well. Also, if you are really thinking of posting on Craiglist, don't include your phone number. I got harrassed by a pervert who noticed my resume on here and he was asking me what type of lingerie I wear. None of his business and not the type of job I am looking for which is a model. Luckily his boss never called me back.Monster is the best source for posting your resume. good luck.

No, I don't know anybody who has got a job through Craigslist. As for posting a resume, I wouldn't think it is the safest thing to do. It is not a secure site so you wouldn't want to post it in your ad, nor would you want to send it to the email address listed in someone's ad because you don't know who is on the other side of that address. Just explain that you would prefer to drop the resume off in person or something. I hear that Monster is a good place to post a resume along with some other sites as well.
If you want to just remove all identifying information from your resume, then it would probably be fine to use Craigslist. But just make sure that your personal information is not in it.

Hi Marisa,
I am the owner of TeleportJobs http://www.teleportjobs.com free job board. You can post your resume on TeleportJobs and keep your personal information hidden until you actually apply for a job. Employers are able to invite you to apply for open positions through TeleportJobs but they won't know your email address or contact information unless you put this information within the body of your resume or until you apply for an opening. You may want to give us a try and let us all know how it goes with your job search whether you get it through TeleportJobs or through another method. Good luck!

If you are looking for a job in your same industry the chances you might get caught by your current employer are high. They add key industry words into the search to find resumes with those key words. Depending on your boss you may or may not get fired. Another idea is to submit your resume to specific companies databases instead of a mass database like monster. In response to the other answer. If its government they cant but if its private sector they can fire you for anything or nothing. Its called the right to hire or fire. I know of a company who would hire workers and fire them before they became eligible for insurance coverage literally with no warning. Good Luck

Absolutely, I actually got mine from a posting on Craigslist, and it has been almost three years! I highly recommend craigslist for job postings....just make sure you are looking at valid businesses, not all the wierd personal crap thats on there...and if posting your resume, leave out as much personal contact info as you can to avoid wierdos. GOOD LUCK, and happy job hunting!!

I've heard good things about Craigslist but as with anything on the internet, you better take every precaution. Before you go on an interview, make sure someone knows where you're going, or have someone come along with you if possible.
