Typically your average over the road truck will hold anywhere from 200 to 300 gallons of diesel fuel. Average fuel economy depends on alot of factors such as the size of your load, whether you are pulling a flatbed trailer or van trailer, the shape of the tractor hood (flat hooded Peterbilt 379 model vs a more aerodynamic Kenworth T-2000) and engine model. The average is around 5 to 6 miles per gallon. Some guys say they get 7 mpg at times but that is pretty high.

Depends. Some hold 100 gal, some as much as 250 gal. Some get 8-12 mpg, some get 4-6 mpg - it depends on the specific vehicle and the load they're pulling.
And yes, they use diesel - but I understand what you're asking.
