yesterday I changed her and she didn't have any blood, but today I changed her and she had dried blood around her bellybutton area again. How normal is this? Should I call her pediatrician and schedule an appointment?

This is normal unless there is an odor coming form the wound, then I would make an app. with the Dr. keep cleaning it with alcohol and a swab to make sure it dries up completely and all should be well.....

Nothing to worry about. See below:
UMBILICAL CORD CARE

When your baby comes home from the hospital, he/she will have had his/her umbilical cord cut. Before it becomes a navel (belly button) the cord will dry up and drop off.

In the beginning, the cord will be clear or stained blue and it will be moist. Within 10-14 days it will become hard and darkened, and it should fall off.

Daily cord care includes:

Care for the cord by applying alcohol to the stump AFTER EACH DIAPER CHANGE. Use a Q-tip to thoroughly clean around the stump site.

Smell the cord often. If a foul or bad odor is coming from his/her cord, call your physician.

Continue the cord care 14 days after the cord falls off.
Danger signs:

A foul or bad odor from the cord.

Drainage that looks like pus. A clear or light yellow discharge or a spot or two of blood is normal.

Redness or swelling around the stump.

A fever.

A weak cry.

A baby that won’t take a bottle or has a weak suck.

If any of the danger signs occur, see your physician.

Keep the diaper folded below the belly button and stick a bandage over it to keep it protected from clothing. If it is still bleeding after 48 hours of being protected contact a doctor as it may be a sign of a bleeding disorder (probably not though with only small amounts of dried blood)

I have a nine month old boy and after i had himthe doctors and nurse told to keep the area clean. They also said that it is normal even after the cord falls it may still bleed. in your case keep the area clean. If you see any greenish yellowish puss call the doctor because it may be a possible infection.

Definitley take your little girl to the doctor. If you don't know the answer to something, means no question is to stupid. Nothing's normal about blood except for us females. Don't ever take a chance with someone's life. Know you love your daughter or you would'nt ask. May God be with you, your daughter and family.

It's ok - that happens. It's going to be healing for a while and in the process it may crack and bleed a little. ;) I was worried when it happened to my son too.
