What does soap actually do ?

All the water will do is rinse off the dirt. The soap is what actually kills the germs.

Soap is a surfactant, loosening and putting into suspension any surface dirt. Soap also disrupts the linings of most bacteria.

Disinfecting scribs are only marginally better at disinfecting.

I think had read somewhere that its the combination of soap and warm water that work together to break up the dirt molecules and loosen their hold on the surface they are so they can be rinsed away.Water alone just won't do it.

It's a lubricant so the dirt and germs will just slide right off.
