Not true. Many companies adopt various ways to motivate staff - from the simple idea's such as employee of the month to more complex recognition schemes. Promotional opportunities also motivate staff. At the end of the day, the majority of us are not in 'dream jobs' so we're all just there for the money, but you can still feel motivated by a simple bit of recognition for what you do every day. Our company runs what they call an "excellence award" scheme - anyone can be nominated for an excellence award and the winners get a massive treat!

People are motivated by many factors... some indeed are motivated by money. But other considerations include the desire to impress others, winning (an intrinsic motivator which strokes the ego when competition is present), fear (of losing one's job or ending up on the streets), love (of one's work or of one's co-worker), etc. You could name many things that get people to move... for business, I think "flex time" is a huge motivator, especially for parents. Working for a great boss can be very motivating, just as working for a mediocre boss can cause someone to surf for a new job.
So, the short answer to your question is NO. The long answer is you have to find out what motivates your workers... some are impressed by trips, better benefits, flex time, or simply a "Nice job" comment.

No way, if you are paying someone a fair wage but are awful to them, money means squat. People will only do so much for money.
An example would be, would you take off your clothes for 10 dollars, or would you do it for a million dollars. I assure you, there are people who wouldn't do it even for a million.
The best and most effective way of motivating people is to provide an environment they want to work in. Meaning, hire nice co-workers and managers. Within reason, give them the tools they need to succeed and opportunities to grow. Along with a reasonable wage and benefits.

You can't motivate someone. You can find out what motivates them. Money is one way that a person could be motivated. There are more ways too. Love, Power. Love is a good motivator. I didn't really care about my jobs until I met the love of my life. I wanted us to do well so that we could eventually have a family.

No, I worked in child welfare with some real smart people that got paid buttons for doing their job under difficult circumstances. Some had law degrees, degrees in education, one was a psychiatrist. Take him he could earn 500.00 an hour he was paid 120.00. Why? They believed they were makinng a difference, not for money or status. However some people do work for status or to fulfill their own needs, to bolster their own self worth. Other people work for the sense of community and cameradery, other people work out of a genuine inerest or to express a talent. No, people work and are motived in different ways for different reasons

me like this write. very expressive! motivations count variety. they sort the intentions. and intentions count variety. some are stimulated or extra on by skill of greed, inferiority complicated, envy, jealousy, inability to maintain %. with you, etc. all are dark intentions. Others, even nevertheless, stimulated by skill of virtuous triggers and their intentions are at good will. even nevertheless, the two could become stressful to you, and all you may desire to assert to them is " close up!" Then, the best-will stimulated will back off and bypass away you on my own, however the different, will turn to be greater desirable than basically stressful.

money can motivate but only to a point. Benefits such as health, vacation, flex time and retirement can motivate. Also opportunity for promotion can motivate. It really depends on what you are trying to motivate them to do as to what will work as well as what they value.
