You have the montn of october my friend.
Known as the world's largest public festival, the Munich Oktoberfest (September 17th - October 3, 2005) will be enjoyed by almost seven million visitors this year alone. During the two week-long event, more than five million liters of beer, 600,000 roasted chickens and over 400,000 sausages will be consumed. Located in beer tents serving the food and beers of sponsoring regional German breweries and restaurants, the festival occurs on the Theresienwiese grounds, known fondly as just die Wiesn.
Fortunately, for those of us who can't make it to die Wiesn for the world's biggest party, hundreds of Oktoberfest events are staged across this country every year — from New York to Seattle — where German culture, food and beverages are celebrated. With 16% of the US population claiming German ancestry, it's no wonder that Oktoberfest is such a popular annual event! We've compiled a resource guide for every Oktoberfest fan including a list of Oktoberfest celebrations in the US and Canada, how to stage your own private Oktoberfest party, what to serve and where to buy authentic German foods and beverages.

People "want" to be from "somewhere" especially when you are from another nation, or at least your ancestors. The reason people want recognition is simply to further some cause or gain awareness of their being. African Americans now have hit the high note of this with the dress they wear and the "Kawanza" tributes, yet if you ask, they have no idea "where" in Africa. They blame it on slaverly, yet do not care to investigate where they actually come from. The "being" part is that they want to be from somewhere so that they can say they are part of the melting pot NOW.

I think people like to be able to celebrate their heritage, and all of the cultural activities attached to it. We are all Americans (well, not everyone on Yahoo, but you know what I mean), but we are all so much more as well.

I still consider myself a Swedish-American, though it was my four grandparents who came over here on the boat.
