I actually got a couple of crochet books from The Book People www.thebookpeople.co.uk.

Also you could try Hobbycraft shops, as well as charity shops, car boot sales - places like that.

Oh yeah, and the library probably would have a few books on handicrafts and/or patterns. We have quite a few old-fashioned books on knitting and crocheting in our library.

I believe stores are only supposed to sell sex toys to over-18's. How old are you? If you're 16 or 16-ish you won't have any problems going into Ann Summers and buying a vibrator if you pay in cash, Ann Summers stores are quite friendly and they get hundreds of teenage girls going in for a giggle; they will probably spot that you are under-age but nobody is going to give you a hard time if you're not doing any harm. If you were buying alcohol or cigarettes it would be different but sex toys aren't dangerous so stores don't have to be strict. If they ask just say you are over 18 and they'll turrn a blind eye. If you chicken out of buying a sex toy you could buy a "massager" instead, you can find them in Boots and Superdrug.
