While driving without warning and no gas light on the engine shuts off when the gas reaches quarter tank. Fill up and I'm good to go again.. Replaced the fuel pump but it didn't help, problem still reocurring... I guess I'll just have to always have a full tank..Not with these gas prices

Sounds like the fuel pick-up line in the fuel tank (going into the pump) isn't connected, or isn't positioned properly. Thus, the pump may not be able to reach the bottom of the tank. It could be the gauge, but usually the fuel light is on a separate sensor and circuit, so this should still be working.

Either way, take it to a dealer - carrying the weight of that extra gas is costing you (not a huge amount, but it adds up over the life of the vehicle.)

Without being a mechanic, I have been told that gas tanks are shapped in a V...so that 1/4 tank really might be empty in your case if the fuel gauge isn't working properly. I'd plan to fill it up when he gets past 1/2 a tank. Letting it get too low can cause trash in the lines...getting gas is cheaper than a repair.

could be your distributor cap. that deals with a car shutting off after a certain amount of gasoline is used. check it out my aunt had the same problem and it was the distributor cap.

Perhaps take it to the dealer... may be a problem with your fuel gauge.
