Last month I bled for 17 days straight and it started 10 days before my initial period was due. The doctor ran some routine tests, and they all came back fine. Told me that my period probably just got goofed up and to take 4 birth control pills a day til the pack was gone. Now I just had my period...was normal...and 2 days later I start the same heavy bleeding that I had before.
Has anyone else gone through this? I'm really scared because the doctor said that if it occurred again they would have to test for more serious options. I know that my sister has had cervical cancer...and I know that abnormal bleeding is a sign.
If anyone has any information please help! I don't want to go to the doctor unless I absolutely have to.

I'm not currently on birth control. And I didn't bleed a lot when I stopped taking that pack. Went another month. Got my period on time. Went away. Now it's back again.

Girl,

I'm afraid you absolutelly have to go to the doctor. No doubt about that.

There could be many reasons for your condition, some serious, some not so serious, but they ALL defenetly need professional advice. And since you are losing blood (for a benign or non bengn reason) you should visit your doc as soon as possible, meaning... well... today.

I've gone through that as well and all the drs told me it was hormones and kept putting me on different types of bcp. I refuse to go back for them to put me on them anymore because I hate the side effects. If u're on the pills now u could be having break through bleeding that's why it started 2 days again. Keep taking ur pills and try not to miss because it will screw up things again.

However if you have a history of cervical cancer in ur family then u NEED to go and rule out everything. Don't be scared, Drs are there to help

Sometimes an infection such as a cervical infection can cause irregular bleeding as well.

I have one question though, with the testing that you had done was any of them for hormones? The reason I ask is because sometimes hormone imbalances can cause irregular periods, and irregular bleeding. Pls get another opinion.
