Because the process of rubbing creates friction which creates heat. Your skin trys to remove the heat so more blood arrives at the area to move the heat away.

The friction between your skin and hand, arm, etc causes heat. The heat stimulates your nerve cells and it causes more melalin (Pigment) to form. Thus making it red.

the friction of the rub i would say.When you rub something it gets hot.Heat opens the pores,so they can counter act the heat with our build in coolant-system
