Clearly acts of terrorism carried out by people who wanted to provoke the respective governments in power.

I don't buy into the conspiracy theory that the U.S. government engineered 9/11. I hold open the possibility that it had advance knowledge of the attacks and let them happen, but find it highly implausable. I also don't believe that Mossad committed the 9/11 attacks, but hold open the real possibility that they had advance knowledge and either informed or did not inform the U.S. government of that advance knowledge. I think they (Mossad) knew something was going to happen, but the logical conclusion is that if everybody listened to and interpreted "chatter" as well as Mossad does, they would have known, too. They wouldn't have known the exact details, I imagine, and it is logical to think they at least tried to wake up their US counterparts who were too involved in one-upmanship between agencies to pay attention to the terrorist threat until it was too late.

In the case of 7/7, it was not an elaborate operation and it is not just entirely feasible but probable that it was carried out by four young, totally misguided, screwed-up to the max British Muslims who had no London connections and no respect for London or her people. Over 80% of people from ethnic minorities in the UK live in the London area, and are aware of the city's diversity and tolerance. I cannot ever envisage London being attacked by native Londoners. Equally, I cannot envisage a terrorist attack on New York City being planned or executed by native New Yorkers. These are the two most open and tolerant cities in the world and it is a crime against humanity that they were chosen as targets (not to say that any act of terrorism isn't a crime against humanity!).

I have always wondered. I don't know too much about the 9/11, but with the London bombing things don't match up properly. Like the bus was on the wrong route, the bombers all came from happy families with decent jobs, the police were at the scene before it happened, and there had been a huge protest about going to war - having a terrorist attack from that sort of area certainly does persuade people. It sounds wierd, and quite horrible to think our own government would do that - not surprising of course, but horrible.

Terrorism. These things happen. We've had 30 years of IRA bombs, were those government jobs too? Was Pearl Harbour faked by the US Government?

9/11 was extremely convenient for the Bush reigime, but it really really wasn't an inside job. No modern Western government would deliberately murder its own people.

Most likely these events were known by the intelligence community to occur, but were inadequately prevented from occuring for whatever ulterior motives one must only be able to hypothesise.
Summarily- Intel knew, but bumbling, inaction polical correctness ideologies, and other such causes allowed these to occur, ulterior motives are unclear.

I don't understand the distinction. Acts of terrorism are acts of terrorism regardless of who carried them out. It is too far fetched to imagine that governments inflicted these acts on their own countries. I f they want to punish us they just increase taxes and make more party political broadcasts.

Government Inside Jobs. If you watch tapes of the 9/11 "attacks" you can see flashes of light on the inside of the buildings that are from bombs on the inside of each building.
