a class photo is a good idea,
chocolate goes down well, how about getting each one to write down a song that sums up the last year for them, hopefully they are all different, and make a mix cd with the class photo on the cover, put the name of each pupil beside the song they choose. that way they can reminisce about their friends and remember the songs of that year all at once!!!!

When we left school, we got a huge lecture from our Head Teacher about entering adult life etc (at 16, we could not buy an alcoholic drink!). After the lecture, we left school premises for the last time.

Many of us had bought toy handcuffs. We donned these, and then ceremonially took them off, placed them on a heap of our uniform blazers, ties and hated sports clothing, doused the lot with petrol (this was in the school playground) and we burned the lot. We then moved off school premises, and stood on the street-side of the school gates smoking cigarettes. Our Head called the Police, of course, but it is not illegal for 16 year olds to smoke cigarettes. Nobody, of course, grassed anyone about the smouldering heap of the artefacts of moral slavery that we burned with such glee. This was at a middle class ex Grammar school in 1974.

The last thing that any of us wanted, was to be patronised with some irrelevant trinket of 'the best years of our lives'. We were all heartily glad to be rid of it.

We are 31 years on from the event. I have a Doctorate, but I still look to the 'burning of the blazers' as one of the most liberating moments of my life. I need no reminders of my schooldays, neither do most of my contemporaries, and neither will your pupils, i fear. When we had a 25 years on reunion, people came from miles (I went to the event - my school was on Tyneside and I live in Essex). We had a very good time, but no teacher was invited, in case we were put on detention for indulging in legal activities, just as we were at school.

Well i suggest a small field trip to somewhere that they would never forget. But if you have a budget make them a personalized goody bag full of stuff. Because they will like it more because it is something that you made. And it came from the heart. ( every one loves candy) Hope that this helps.

The only age group who should receive presents from their school is those going from Primary School to Secondary School, and then only a Dictionary or something small and really useful.

What about giving them printed invitations for drinks (say, soft dtinks if they're still too young, or maybe ice cream) in a year's time. That way you'll get to meet them all again, and they'll be happy to see each other again!

I think first you should make the a card each or just 1 card for all, personalise it and do it on computer like get pcitures of their fave stuff or put pics fo them and write them a nice, short sweet note. Also, you could give them chocolate, sweets or a picture fo you or them or get them something that is humourous.

what a lovely thought..as i recall when i left school the teachers were mainly glad to see the back of us...we did all get our school shirts signed by our teachers..and that was what we saved...altho it mainly got washed out along with various makes of shaving foam lol..however depending on the amount of money u wish to spend..u can buy cups from a discount store and sign them with the special pens that set (about 2 quid) and send them on their merry way to bash them over old ladies heads!!!
