For one, I try to follow in the path that God has chosen for me.
I wasn't always like this. But, I am now.
I believe I am going in the right direction in life:
1) I am not hurting anyone
2) I am helping those that I can.
3)I am doing my best to not step on people's toes....
4)I feel more content with my life now that I ever have before.
5)I can sleep at night!!!!

If things feel right and keep falling in place that's usually a good sign, but like everything, "life" is a series of peaks and valleys and though you may choose a path that appears to be going the way you want one day, the next day the road points another direction and you adjust.

According to Virginia Dunstone in her book "Why Do I Do What I Do?" we all have lifepath known only to ourselves.
How do we know if we are on the right path? First you take some time to consider what you want, what you want to do and then decide how you want to do it. Then you go after it. You know you are on the right path when your life is going smoothly.
Say you decided you wanted to go from Los Angeles to San Francisco. First you decide how to get there. Drive or fly. Okay, drive. Then while you were driving from Los Angeles to San Fransciso, you would know you were on the right path by checking your map and making sure that what you saw on the road outside matched the map. You would see signs on the road pointing you to San Francisco (SF 200 miles, SF 100 miles, etc). If you stopped for lunch and got back on the road and noticed the signs were now pointing more to Los Angeles (LA 200 miles, LA 100 miles) then you would be off your path. You have to stop, get your bearings and turn around.
In your life, once you decide what you want to do, then if you are on the right path, the journey will be smooth. If you are on the wrong path the journey will be difficult and you need to stop and get your bearings and maybe take go in a different direction.

There are two roads in life - the safe one and the gambler's one. The safe one is working 8 to 5, having two kids, buying a small house, complaining about your wife's cooking. And just getting on with the daily drudgery of life with the occassional fun time like fishing or going to Disney World. Then there's the gambler's life. Every opportunity is a chance to take or not to take. You have to make quick decisions. And pay the price if you make the wrong decision. You could end up on Park Avenue, NYC, or Park bench in anytown, USA. You have to know yourself, and which of those two roads is the right one for you.

One can never be sure. It's the theme of the famous Robert Frost Poem: "The Road Not Taken". There are so many choices in life and we may or may not choose the best. We make our choices at the time for our reasons at the time. And only time will tell whether or not we did right.

The right road is usually not easy, but rewarding, and rewards surround you and the people you touch.
If you feel like going through life is easy, you may not be going the right way, especially if you notice that people around you get hurt along your way. Unfortunately, if someone is on drugs, it is hard to notice anyone being hurt, including ones own self.

There is nothing less pleasurable than a life devoted to pleasure (or yourself, for that matter). If you devote your life to loving God and loving others, then you are going in the right direction, and will find contentment.

You deal with the cards which you were dealt. If when you cash out at the end, you leave your corner of the world just a bit better off then when you stated to play, you did O.K.
