I was just wondering this because I heard the SCCA Trans Am Series used to use six liter engines reduced to five. I wondered how they did it.

Change out the crank or have the crankpin reground offset to a shorter stroke and use undersize bearings.Use pistons with pin offset to compensate for the drop in piston height.

If you want a shorter stroke you need to get a different crank. This will increase your volume but decrease your compression ratio if you use the same rods. You would need to get new longer rods and or new pistons. Might as well do a bore and hone, get new rods, pistons, rings, etc. if your going to do this. What is your project.

Change the Crank (smaller oval) and the Connecting (Shorter) rods.

That's all.
