I want to make cloth diapers for preemies, what is the best fabric for the inner layer? I know some preemies can be really sensitive. I'd like to make AIO diapers, with PUL on the outer layer, probably hemp or microfiber in the middle (for the soaker), and I was thinking velour for the inside-but that doesn't take the wetness away as well as suedecloth.
Any suggestions? Any cloth you REALLY like/dislike?

bamboo is really soft and has anti microbal properties, but i like diapers lined with microfleece because they keep wetness away from the skin.

I love fleece. My son is sensitive and it works best. Fleece keeps the moisture away from their bottoms, which minimizes irritation. I have heard of some having a reaction to suedecloth, so I'd avoid that. Flannel would probably be good as well. I hope you find something that works for you. I love cloth diapering and I hope you enjoy it too!

I would suggest superflannel, also known as double-napped flannel. It's very very soft, and you can find it at Walmart for $2.99/yard. Microfleece is also very soft and draws the moisture away. Alot of newborns are sensitive to a "wet" feeling, and the microfleece helps with that.

If you *can* get hemp fabric that has not been bleeched. Preferably organically grown and processed. Hemp has antibacterial property.

Otherwise try to find some organic cotton.
