Illegal does not start with an "n". What a stupid law

It just doesn't sound right...'sup illegal

It's kind of hypocritical that some people who are offended by the "n" are also the ones who glorify it in rap lyrics and speech. Those people obviously never went through what blacks went through during slavery, so just because they aren't white doesn't entitle them to use the "n" word. By the way, is it only illegal if a nonblack person uses the "n" word?

Words are weapons. It's not freedom of speech to spread poison through words. They should ban not only "N" word but all derogatory label words about groups of people. No problem. it has very little to do with free speech. It has to to with hate and hubris. The fact that the judiciary has been unable to discern this until now is ridiculous. What good are human rights if no one understands them.

I am sure that it is ignorant people that overuse these words in the presence of opposing crowds that have caused such a course of action to be taken. I to believe in freedom of speech, but only to a certain degree. When your words are offensive to others and meant to be hurtful over something that one can not control, such as the color of ones skin – these are actions that should be reduced. I to have my stereotypes and prejudices I would be lying if I say otherwise…but there are some things I am smart enough to keep to myself. Keep your rude, unkind comments to yourself. They have a saying that goes “If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all”.

I think that is great.
The difference is that historically, white people have taken that word (which i am sure you all know means ignorance) and have managed to change the definition of the word to be a derogatory term used towards black people.
The word has a very painful history behind it and although i admire the way the younger generation has empowered it, i hate that they dont understand why it shouldnt be used.
So while i think i agree with your basic point about freedom of speech, i think that the idea behind the iligalization of the word is justified.
Please dont make any stupid comments about other derogatory terms used at other races (ie Honky, cracker, beaner, chink ect) because those words are nowhere near as hurtful or powerful as the N word.

compelled lower than Carnal understand-how. An acronym. it truly is one concept. It is smart, yet who's conscious if early English police officials truly used that word for circumstances of rape? I seldom say it until eventually I hit my thumb with a hammer and then that guttural confusing 'ok' sounding note looks the right epithet for the on the spot.

Making ANY word illegal is as ignorant as the people who choose to use that particular word.

Making laws to child proof the world doesn't make the world itself any less dangerous. It just makes people incapable of surviving without those safe guards in place.

This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Talk about special treatment for black people. If your going to ban the "n" word, they should ban ALL racial slurs (including slurs for white people)!

It will never happen. Any law they try to pass will be struck down by any court it is challenged in.

Besides, how am I supposed to drive to work, in rush hour traffic, if I can't use those words?
