The lights in tanning beds are UV light. If you don't use goggles or if you look into it..it can cause retina damage which can lead to blindness over a long period, but it can cause headaches and cause you to see spots if you expose your eyes too much. I tanned without goggles all the time and always had a slight headache afterwards for a couple of hours. Uv lights can penetrate the eyes through your lids, which makes sense because it penetrates your skin to tan you.

i dont know, but i doubt it if you saw it for less than 5 seconds....i put my goggles on before i turn on the bed so I never see the light and I still get a headache after I tan, almost every time!! so maybe it wasn't the light, but I have no idea what it is....

UV light rays definitely do damage to your eyes but if u saw the light for barely a second or couple of seconds, there shouldn't be any vision change
