Mebbe the people in So. CA are too health conscious for Sonic to succeed.

Personally, I think it because it all started out in Oklahoma (They needed time to move west). I also checked the company site, and I guess they know they are lacking. California is a the top of the list for where the want franchises. They list the following markets "available": California, Florida (Miami), Georgia (Atlanta), Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky (Eastern), Maryland, Michigan (Detroit and Lansing), New Jersey, New York (New York City area and Binghamton), Ohio, Oregon (Excluding Medford, Klamath Falls and Eugene), Pennsylvania (Excluding Harrisburg/ York/ Lancaster), Washington (Excluding Spokane), Washington DC, West Virginia, Wisconsin (La Crosse and Milwaukee)
Makes sense to me they move into Cali...

I'm surprised that you don't have many Sonics in SoCal. I live in Arkansas and we have many Sonics in each town. In my town - population 1000 - we have a Sonic! People aren't very health conscious around here, so maybe that's why they are so popular.

The same reason there are none in Buffalo, NY, because we have so many awesome and varied places to eat, real food, excellent eats, and people who have been here know that. You probably hhave people who are used to decent food as well. Sonic? Heck, even Taco Bell barely makes a minimum number for places here because we have our home town Mighty Taco that kicks butt.

Twenty years ago there used to be one in Garden Grove on
Westminster Ave a block west of Harbor Blvd.( I loved it)
Also one in Fountain Valley on Brookhurst btwn McFadden & Edinger. (ate there once)
A lot of Asian businesses opened up around them. Oh Well
Best bet is to write to corporate and send lots of signatures from
your city.

Real estate prices are so high that they'd have to double the price of the food - same as in the Bay Area.

I know. There's not many here in Northern California either. There's only two, and those are not even in the San Francisco Bay Area. I don't know why.

IN-AND-OUT BURGER is really hard to compete with when it comes to sonic. Id choose In and Out hands down!

We don't need Sonic as long as we have IN-AND-OUT, Tommy's (best chili burgers) and Carl's Jr. (who has really stepped up with their burgers). But, a dancing milk shake might be cute!
