Currently i'm a receptionist @ a doctors office, but I took a job as a medical biller, which is what i went to school for. They are going to pay me $2 less. My boss said that if I stay he will put me in billing here ASAP and give me a raise. I know it seems abvious what to do, but I don't want that to be an empty promise just to get me to stay. I need some advice. HELP!!

Stay... if you get to do billing and earn more still then don't move. Don't overthink it.. it is business not personal.

STAY. If he is going to give you a raise (which you should be able to see right away) then his promise to put you in billing is not just an empty promise.

If you like this office and your boss- stay, at least give it some time. I believe it worth it. If not, stay and look for another job, just keep it for yourself.

I would give him a deadline. Be nice about it though. If you've been there a while and have done good work, your boss probably would rather keep you around even if it's in another department.

Tell him when you see the raise and your office that you will call the other company and decline the position.

If you don't trust your boss then leave. Get into your field right away, so you can start moving up.

Get your boss to give you a date that he will have you in billing, something that you can hold him to.

If you like your current job, then stay.

Otherwise you'll be jobless.
