Do you think lesbians that have infiltrated the feminist movement over the years, have negatively misrepresented what feminism is about?
Have lesbians been using their own agenda under the cover of feminism, and have tarnished the good name of true (heterosexual) feminists that want equal rights and unity for all humankind?
Are lesbians in the feminist movement a major reason why many men and women today see feminists as sexists, misandrists, man-haters, and "femi-nazis?" What do you think should be done about lesbians in the feminist movement?

Baba Yaga:
Actually baba yaga, I support feminism and equal rights. What i don't support is misandry.
Also, I don't consider "lesbian" a derogatory word or "name-calling." Apparently you do. If a woman is a lesbian, and considers herself one -- that's what I will call her. I have nothing against lesbians. I do take an issue against lesbians that male bash and try to take heterosexual women under their wing to male-bash along with them.
Speaking of "denial," only a person in denial would not admit that there ARE lesbians in the feminist movement, or at least are under the guise of being "feminists." Are ALL feminists heterosexual women? No. Are ALL women that label themselves "feminists" people that aren't misandrists or male-bash? No.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that many women in the feminist movement do not solely seek "equal rights," and do want double-standards and advantages over men.
Today, more women are openly sexist against men than viceversa.

Baba Yaga, you asked for claims to support what I said about lesbians and man-haters claiming to be feminists. You obviously think (or want to think) that there are no lesbians or and/or man-hating women in the feminist movement, and never were.
Allow me to prove you wrong again:
One prime example is Valerie Solanas. She was a self-proclaimed feminist that wrote the S.C.U.M. Manifesto (Society For Cutting Up Men). Not only was she a man-hater, but she was a lesbian as well.
Read her SCUM Manifesto to see the twisted, evil, misandrist connotations that litter her mind: And this was a so-called "feminist":

You and Valerie Solanas share a lot in common.

If you read some women's feminist history, you'd know that there has always been tension in the contempory (1970-80's) women's movement between lesbian feminists and heterosexual feminists. Since homophobia was prevalent and perfectly acceptable in the 1970's and 80's, lesbians didn't exactly feel welcomed in the feminist community. And frankly, the radical lesbians scared the heck out of not just heterosexual feminists, but lesbian feminists as well. Many lesbians (feminists or not) were closeted, and didn't want to be associated with open lesbians. Heterosexual feminists were struggling for many basic rights, and some didn't want to deal with even more controversy. Obviously, some of the goals of the lesbian movement would be different from that of the feminist movement as well.
As far as man-hating goes, I really haven't seen the general feminist movement or the lesbian movement as being interested in female superiority or male-bashing. Of course, they're are a few, just like there are a few men who hate women. The initial goals of the lesbian movement seemed to be a search for a place of sanctuary, which many called separatism, but it wasn't necessarily based on a hatred of men, more, it was a wish to be allowed to be indifferent to men. Frankly, not all lesbians are feminists either. Lesbians can be just as traditional about sex roles as heterosexual men and women...
I think the reason feminists are labeled man-haters, sexists, etc is because of very vocal, angry men and women who want to see American society return to the "traditional" male head of household family of the 1950's. People like Rush Limbaugh have a huge following, and many people listen to what he says, whether it's accurate or not. The media loves a controversary, and have been only too glad to represent the feminist movement as being made up of angry men-hating lesbians. Just because something is said over and over, doesn't make it true. Pat Robinson has also said "all" feminists are lesbian witches, but that doesn't mean all men think this way, or that what he said is true.

I'm male. Lesbianism and homosexuality have always been with us, and always will.
I think that many people have a desire to be part a "group" This group differentiates itself from another group. For self-image reasons, they can't be inferior to the other group, therefore they are superior. Sexism, classism, homophobia, and racism are all the same thing: despising the "other" The hate comes first, then the justifications for it.
So the answer is no, I don't think lesbians in the feminist movement have negatively skewed society's views. Why do you think anything should be done about lesbians in the feminist movement?

What? The heathen wants a source about misandry in feminism?
http://www.backlash.com/book/domv.html
http://www.amazon.com/Legalizing-Misandry-Systemic-Discrimination-Against/dp/0773528628
http://www.utpjournals.com/product/utq/721/721_review_dorland.html
Three should be enough for you.
You can go ahead and read those since you seem to crave and desire sources instead of using that "abstract thinking" you claim Americans don't use; I'm sure you'll have enough time to do it.
Seriously. Type in MISANDRY into Google and see how many sources you get. THAT in itself should be enough. Perhaps lesbians have not negatively skewed society's views, but feminist misandrists (misandrists usually ARE feminists, if you can think logically and pair two and two together... difficult skill, but very useful) certain have according to at LEAST three sources.
My answer to the question, as eluded to above, is no, but only because I can only chalk the blame up to MISANDRISTS, not mere lesbians. I don't think much of anything besides presentation of the facts should be necessary to solve the problem, although the law certainly needs to be changed.

I'll be the first to correct Baba Yaga on a misconception; what you want is scientific/statistical evidence to support your claim, not empirical. Empirical is observation based, by definition. (ie. the US customary system of measure is based off empirical science.) So what you are asking for from him is the opinion of a collection of individuals, not the absolute truth.
And only absolute truth is valid in any discussion.

Hmmm... I'm not sure I like how you say that lesbians infiltrated the feminist movement. Lesbians are just as feminine as other women. There is no infiltration involved.
---
Hold the phone... are you implying that lesbians are not true feminists? Simply because of sexual orientation? Are heterosexual females more woman than homosexual ones? That really grinds my gears.
---
Lesbians are not an organization. They are as diverse as straight women. Hon, you are misinformed.

I feel that the negative views of society can rub off on just about anyone. It really do not mater what sex or race or orientation you are. Lesbians just like all the other people on this earth are entitled to their opinion regardless...it's called freedom of speech. Who are we to judge?

Lesbians have not infiltrated. They have led the movement since its inception. Their goal has always been "liberate" females so that they may have more sex partners.
