possibly. but there seemed to have been a long period of time where the settlers were kind of ignored. if you get used to doing things in a certain manner and then your children, and so forth, and then one day the government from across the pond gets active and in your face about the responsibilities of the settlers to the monarchy and how you must pay for projects and wars your area isn't involved with: don't you think you might say no too? besides, it's problematic lumping in slaves and Indians together in an understanding of what life was like then. not all blacks even then were here as slaves and some Indians owned slaves. and some natives welcomed the white people because they proved to be useful allies against other Indians that were oppressing them. i could go on but would instead simply point out that the past was no more simple to explain than anything that exists today.

They didn't mind paying fair taxes. They DID mind not having a voice in the government...they DID mind being taxed at a higher rate than the people in Britain. They DID mind being exploited.
Remember the whole "no taxation without representation" thing?
Every war benefits some groups more than others - that can't be avoided. It always happens.
The slaves probably would have been freed sooner, but as to the Native Americans, I doubt it. England wanted land and natural resources, too.

Yes. But it wasn't the only reason.
The Americans had a long list of complaints. They had a list of rights, as British subjects and citizens, that were being violated.
So, after several tries, they finally sent their laundry list of grievances in a letter. They began the letter by explaining Locke's social contract theory and then listed the violations of their rights (both God-given and as British citizens/subjects) and then they announced that because of all of that they were breaking away.
Taxes is one of the main reasons, but there are several others.
It's noteworthy that when middle class farmers revolted against an unfair system, the rich farmers in the US got together and created a new government that would help them control the middle class farmers.

NO! It was inspired by Americans who were tired of paying very high taxes to pay Englands debts. The cost of their government and to defend herself. It is called taxation without proper representation. The taxes were draining everything from our country. We had left England to escape her iron fist rule which only benefited the rich and titled.I don't know who Steve Earle is,but if he is American and feels that way maybe he should move to England.

Wait a minute. "rich farmers"???!?!? I find it hard to believe there was such a thing in 1776. Farmers were not rich, they were the bottom of the chain.
