I swallow them because I usually bite them off with my teeth AFTER taking a long hot bath people!!!
On occasion, I happen to use a nail clipper and do it over the toilet bowl so they end up flushed away, eventually.

In the trash can. My sister just leaves them on the floor-that's gross and uncivilized.
