Everything in life is a choice is it not? Why is it whenever a question about abortion is asked, there is inevitably that person who wants to give a little Disclaimer "Don't get me wrong I'm not pro-abortion, but pro-choice" Come again!? No one is claiming that you actively promote abortion.. However, you do condone it and support it as a practice do you not? Do you feel the need to hide behind a layer of doublespeak because you are ashamed of your views? If not why don't you come out saying loudly and proudly that you are in defense of what? Abortion! I know its a dirty word isn't it?

I am a woman and I have the right in california to govern my body acordingly. I have children and in the past i did have an abortion. If I were in a state were it's unsafe to do so I don't know how I would be now.!!! I have people in my life whom use abortion as a form of birth control. I hate that. I think they should be responsible and stop avoiding comdoms. Depo morn after pills whatever. Their should be more education given to women to understand all that is or isn't life since we are the givers of life.
abortion is not up to those whom don't feel a consequense related to it. I felt guilty and cursed atfer mine and i still mourn that child. But that doesn't mean that a child whom has been molested or raped should be foreced to be a parent. Unprotected sex does not equal a mature (ready to be) parent. Many women young, old, lesbian, different have been approached and some raped. are you stating an 79 year old woman should give birth after one of the above circumstances cause she is "pro-Life"..... The choice to have a choice is a big deal for women. I will encounter this again being that I have daughters{whew at least 15+ years} before I need to worry about that hopefully. Women should remain to have the right to govern their bodies, the same way that now we have the right to vote and to wear jeans in public. in the 50's and 60's only skirts and dresses were allowed in school and work. (I'm told, i'm too young to know that as a fact)
I'm choosing to be a responsible mother and woman. I'm choosing to let it be a persoanal choice not a state decision. My health, not just my body!!!!!!!! And they do have a certain week requirement, and don't forget about those with elective abortions(minimizng twins, triplets, quads.....etc)

I'm pro-choice. Pro-choice is about more then a woman's right to an abortion. It is also about a woman's right to use birth control, or even her right to say "No" to a man, even if it is her husband. Women are for more then breeding, and that is what pro-choice is about, to me anyway. Personally, I would probably never have an abortion just because I didn't want a baby or didn't feel ready for one. Yes, I have faced that issue exactly, and I went full term and gave the baby up for adoption because to me, it was wrong for me personally to have an abortion just because I didn't want a baby. BUT, I would never, ever, make a woman that made that choice feel like she was wrong for making it. It was HER CHOICE to make, not mine, I'm not her or living her life, I have no right to make it to where she does not have that choice.
Having an abortion and putting a baby up for adoption are both horrible ordeals, and since you think something shouldn't be done because it would be an horrible ordeal, should we now try and take the adoption route away too?
Yea, adoption is a joyful occasion for the people getting a baby after the heart-break of realising they can't have kids on their own. But, the person who gives their baby up isn't exactly singing "Hallelujah!!!!". How dare you try to downplay the feelings of the person that has made that decision? And how dare you demonise the people that made the decision to abort? YOU will probably never face that moment of fear and sadness when you are presented with an unwanted/unplanned pregnancy, so I say STFU. What makes you think you have the right to even butt in to this, which is solely the relm of women?

i am pro- choice because if your not how far will you let it go.will you call for peoples approval on the candy bar you wish to buy or maybe tide or cheer make your on decision it's what u prefer right.that's what most will tell you.so how is it that when it comes to personal things like abortion and such that others fill the need to get involved.you stated being pro-choice i condone abortion yes i do but with stipulations.not as a form of birth control we all know there is a Walgreen's on every corner with an alternative to that.but in,god forgive acts of rape or child abuse or a drug addict that shot up heroin or coke 10 times a day for the last 5 months the child is not going to have much of a chance or if if the pregnancy continues it could jeopardize the mothers health.really all we can do is prey people make the right choice.....

Ive got news for you buddy, I dont really approve of abortion, but I am pro choice, because I believe every woman should have the choice over what she does with her body and that nobody else has the right to stop her. Being pro choice, means you support having the option to abort. The real oddity is the whole "pro life" thing, because their not really pro life, they are some of the same people who support war and the death penalty, so in actuality they are playing God in their own little way, and are blood guilty according to the bible. Abortion is not mentioned in the bible, and I would never expect it to be mentioned considering we all know what methods of birth control were around back then, and they were all abortive in nature. Do a little research and you will find out. Women were not forced to give birth every year of their lives even in bible times, women had a choice!

abortion is not something i necessarily support. i would prefer that everyone uses contraception so they don't need to have an abortion, and i also think adoption is a great choice if possible. but i also recognize that there are some situations in which if a mother were to keep a baby it would end up suffering greatly as a child and adult. then they would have a baby before they were ready to take care of it and the cycle would continue. i also recognize that outlawing abortions will just force the women who can't get them into back alleys with shady people and dangerous methods of aborting the baby. i'd rather someone not get an abortion but i also believe the government does not have a right to legislate what a woman does with her body.

I am definitly Pro-Choice for abortion. While I don't think it is ok for a women who has sex often and with many men to have abortion what about the women that gets rapped and ends up pregnant why should she be forced to care for a baby that would always remind her of something so terrible. And I would say adoption would be the better option for both women but the childern that are in the system are treated so badly and alot of them end up growing up in the system which really is no place for anyone to be. And I under any circumstances wouldn't want to put a child in the system.

I am pro choice in the first trimester. This means I suppose a woman's right to choose abortion if that is what she wants. Yes, abortion is stopping a living human fetus from developing further, is that what you want to hear? Beyond the first trimester, abortion should only be an option to save the life of the mother or if the fetus has a disability incompatible with life (such as anencephaly)

if i were pro abortion i would encourage women to get abortions and i do not. i am pro choice. if the woman asks i offer my opinion in their personal situation but it is their choice on what to do. yes, i support a woman's right to chose abortion which is to deliberately end the life of an human embryo or fetus she is carrying. no doublespeak there. however i think the first few months is plenty long enough to make a decision no ending the life of a growing fetus then it's just too far gone and everyday it becomes more of a separate individual and able to live on it's own. we deliberately end human life sometimes it's called war, or pulling the plug on brain dead folks. i also believe in assisted suicide or euthanasia for terminally ill.

I am pro-choice... that includes:
honoring a woman's choice to have the child, even though I don't think it will be in her or the new baby's best interest...she doesn't work and has no means to educate herself or feed this new child.
honoring a woman's choice to have a hysterectomy at a very young age because she doesn't ever want to have a child, and does not want to go through the agony of deciding whether or not to have an abortion if she ever gets pregnant.
honoring a woman's choice to have a child and give it up for adoption, even though she will be in so much emotional pain because of this decision.
and yes, honoring a woman's choice to have an abortion.
Do not presume to tell me that being pro-choice only means one thing! It means giving women freedom to manage their reproductive life... not as I see fit, or you see fit, but as they want... because when all is said and done... the person it impacts most profoundly is the woman making the CHOICE.
Response to your edit:
When it is a fetus and unable to live outside the womb, yes, I believe the woman has a right to not be placed in a reproductive prison. Once outside the womb, that is a different subject, and not part of your original question.
Response to your edit #2:
Yes... I may not like it, and I may make one comment to the effect that it is probably not a good thing to do, but most of us born in the 50's and 60's came from mothers who drank (alot) and took diet pills... believe it or not, we turned out ok. Besides, she is the one who is going to have to deal with her decision to do that should something be wrong.

Pro-choice is no the opposite of pro-life, it means you support individual freedoms and other people's rights to make their own decisions about their bodies. It is entirely possible to disagree with the practice and make a conscious decision to not have an abortion yourself but still understand you are not in charge of everyone else and a person should have the freedom to do as they wish with their own body. The problem with pro-lifers is they're also anti-welfare. And that just doesn't work. If you're going to force unprepared young women to have babies, you best support some kind of social assistance program so those children actually have the kind of life you claim it can have.
