First, the ingnition key is the same on new bikes as the gas tank and if yours was not, then someone has replaced the fuel tank. go to the locksmith because the dealer will only order you a new lock cap and key from Kawasaki. Good Luck

Drive your bike to a locksmith (or call in advance). He'll be able to pick it open. Either buy a new gas cap, or he might be able to make you a key.
That's the procedure a motorcycle shop would take, on a bike that old.

See if the dealership has a master key, then order a new gas cap if they cannot order you a new key

The screwdriver is not the answer. You need to call a locksmith and have him/her open it for you. Good luck.
