Funny you should ask, actually I'm married to him!
My husband and I are volunteers participating in our town's Relay For Life event which raises money for the American Cancer Society. A couple of years ago we came up with a fundraiser where he bakes muffins and sells them by the dozen, delivered to local offices! The flier refers to him as the Muffin Man. He said he went into an office one day and all the people were singing Do You Know The Muffin Man!

No, but in a way, isn't EVERYONE the muffin man? I mean, we all have a person who we're questioning if we really know them or not. That one friend that was a wall flower one day but decided to commit suicide the next day. He was the muffin man. Do we really know him? He's on Drewy Lane now, though.
We think we know someone when we really don't, and in our mind, subconsciously, we ask, "Do I know the muffin man?" We try asking people the same question. "Do YOU know the muffin man?" They don't understand us at first. "The muffin man?" We are affirmed who we're asking about, but we're not quite sure if we really know them. "The muffin man," we assure. "Yes, I know the muffin man, who lives on Drewy Lane."
That whole conversation translates to our friend who commited suicide, Emily, lets call her. "Do you know Emily?" we ask someone. "Emily?" they ask. "Emily," we confirm. "Yes I know Emily, who killed herself."
Such message, such meaning, such a deep concern that we have for a child's song. So next time you look at someone you know, something you trust, whatever you've put your life into, and ask yourself, "Do you know the muffin man?"
