It's clear that you don't want to wear makeup to look older/impressive, but because you are worried about your acne, and I find your concern much more reasonable than girls who just want to look like divas at school. I have had my skin problems myself and sympathise, too!

It is however true that, no matter how good it is, make up is not the best thing for any type of skin, any age. It makes acne worse, and even if you have normal skin, it clogs pores. Don't give up yet on finding the right medication for acne - there are many different products, including gels or creams a dermatologist or beautician can suggest (don't neglect washing your face with a MILD washing liquid morning and evening - too harsh liquids only make it worse). If your acne is due to hormonal factors, contraceptive pills may help- from a doctor of course, and they are good for your period and preventing womb cancer too (or is it cervix cancer? well, need to check that).

If I was you I would save a good makeup (again from a doctor or beautician) for a special night out or a really bad skin day, not all the time, and ALWAYS, ALWAYS remove the makeup when you go home - the longer you leave it the worst for your skin. And never wear it when you are going to do sports or expect to sweat (like when it's too hot).

From my own experience, my skin got much better when I started using a good cleansing-moisturising-anti-blemish routine. Even now (I'm 25 now) makeup makes my skin bad the next day. I usually stick to a powder or nothing.

One final point: I'm not sure how bad your acne is - it is very likely that you are a very beautiful young woman with just a couple of spots and you are starting to panic, in which case, cleansing and moisturising will do the job. In any case, don't let yourself get oppressed by a 'I can't face the world without make-up' regime. Make sure you have fun, be the great person that you are and believe me, this is what will make you successful with both friends and boys!

Hope this helps

Hey, I have had acne since I was 8 and I have tried everything. I was allergic to almost everything on the market, whether it was prescription or OTC. Try Bye Bye Blemish serum. It is awesome and hasn't upset my skin. Just don't use too much. It's very inexpensive and can be found online or at KMart or Walgreens. Try make up but make sure it is oil free or it will break your skin out even worse. I hope this helps ;>

When I was thirteen I started wearing makeup. And I had very lovely skin... until a week later. Makeup aggravated my skin and made me breakout. I'd try to put even more makeup on to hide it, and it'd look gross and unnatural. I kept using makeup, even though it caused it, I now needed to cover it.
I'd suggest you go to a dermatologist. He or she will prescribe a formula(s) to you to treat your acne. Don't give your hopes up if it doesn't work within a week -- or even a month. Your prescription may change your next visit depending on how your skin reacts to the first treatment.
You may also ask your dermatologist of what makeup brands she suggests. Nuetrogena, L'Oreal, or Almay may be some of your options. When purchasing makeup, always buy oil-free which won't clog pores and ones that read "Dermatologist Recommended" on the label. Some makeups even contain benzoyl peroxide which treats acne.
It may be more expensive to see a dermatologist than purchasing a bottle of Covergirl or Maybelline (I pay $12-15 for makeup, compared to $3), you'll be much happier and glad you did. And although my makeup's costly, I don't have to slather it on like as if I had acne. My skin looks how it did before I was thirteen

Make-up will just clog up your pores even more. This acne phase shouldn't last too long but if it does see a dermatologist and they will take care of it. First get rid of most of your acne before you wear make-up. Also, try a St. Ives exfoliating scrub 2 or 3 times a week. Good Luck!

A lot of make-up will just aggravate acne worse because so much of it will clog up your pores. Just make sure the make up you use is mostly water based. Most foundations, while they hide the acne, will make is harder to get rid of the acne, so be careful!

I did not start wearing make-up until I was 20 years old - it was a good choice too because I really preserved my youthful appearance.

Thats a great question! First of all if your old enough to get acne then your obviously old enough to do something about it. As long as its ok with the parental units to wear make up, then go for it girl! But what concerns me a little is your skin's sensitivity, make sure you buy stuff marked hypo-allergenic or for sensitive skin.
Also if possibly ask your mom or aunt(someone experienced with makeup) to tag along with you to help choose shades that compliment your features. And what ever you do don't share your make up with anyone(you don't want to share bacteria).Last but not least, less is more when it comes to makeup and to much can irritate even the toughest skin!
Good luck with getting permission & God Bless
P.S. remember to take a little with you for touch ups.

i just turned 14, and i wear makeup. i dont think 13 is too young to wear makeup as long as you do it good. first though i think you should think about getting a good cleaser toner and mousteriser. remember you still need to moisterise even with pimples just use a little bit. also dont dry out your skin too much or more pimples will come because your skin will think it doesnt have enough oil. ive used liz earl since i was about 13 its great and made for sensitive skins, because the lady who made them couldnt find anything for her very sensitive skin she made her own products. and about the makeup dont use too much or it will make the pimples worse. just try some concealer and tinted mousteriser and always wash it off before bed. and remember the pimples will eventually dissapear. oh and DONT PICK THEM!!!!!!!! if you do youl get a scar and that it even worse than a pimple.

You are definitely old enough to wear makeup. Hear it from someone your own age like me. I am 13 too. I put concealer on my pimples, wear bareMinerals foundation, Almay eyeshadow trio, and Almay mascara, Maybelline eyeliner, occasionally Maybelline eyeshadow, Neutrogena concealer, and bareMinerals warmth. Just not in that order!!!!!! 13 is around the age when breakouts seriously start and you need to cover up.

Unfortuanately if you have sensitive skin make-up may make it worse. If you want to wear it, try cover girl oil free foundation with a light moisturizer after you wash you face. As ong as you don't over due makeup it's ok. Wear white eyeliner instead of black, lots of earth tone colors and lip gloss instead of lipstick. It's a clean fresh look.
